PIERRE I
Belgrade July 1844, Topchider 16 August 1921

King of Serbia from 1903 to 1918, then King of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia from 1918 to 1921. Pierre I was the Son of Alexander Karageorgevitch and was forced into exile with his father in 1858. Raised in France, he served in the French Army during the war of 1870 and then joined the Bosnian insurrection against the Turks in 1875. After the revolution, which put an end to the Orenovitch Dynasty, he was appointed King of Serbia on 11 June 1903 and was approved by the National Assembly of Serbia on June 15th. His Minister Pachitch forged the alliance between Serbia and Russia in the fight against Austria - Hungary. During the 1914 War, Pierre I, already ill, handed the crown to his son Alexander who later became King of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia in 1921.

The Obrenovitch reigned over Serbia from 1815 to 1858 and from 1858 to 1903. They were the rivals of the Karageorgevitch Dynasty.
